Solstice Bath Ritual for Releasing

Why you should do a bath ritual on the Solstice

Naturally after a long year, and in this case a decade, we end up carrying lots of “stuff” that is no longer serving us. This “stuff” can make us feel dark, heavy, and in need of a release. We look to the Solstice, because in this extra long darkness there is light.

As women, the lunar cycle mirrors our inner-world ….and this continues even if our menses have ceased. But many of us, cut off from the rhythms of nature, have become so caught up in the frenzy of modern, “civilized” life that we’ve lost touch with our lunar connection.

This Sunday December 22nd marks the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The Solstice is the longest night of the year, and the moment when the light begins to return.  It’ll be the last winter solstice of the decade - an auspicious day for reflecting, releasing, regenerating and recharging for the year and decade to come.

This is a moment to connect with the rhythm of nature.

It's time to go in...

reflect..

let go...

and consciously choose what you will create in the coming year.

Lets get to it.

Step 1: Clear the Old with a Cleansing Bath Ritual

Fill up a bath with warm water and light some candles or incense around the bath.

Next, you want to add cleansing herbs and/or essential oils to the bath such as

sage, chamomile, basil, peppermint, cinnamon, sandalwood, lavender or rosemary.

You can add them dried, fresh or as essential oils.

As you sink into the warm water, imagine yourself being purified and cleansed from your feet all the way up to your head. Allow yourself to relax into the water and imagine all the old and unnecessary thoughts and feelings being washed away by the energy of the night.

After the ritual, drain the tub water out completely and then shower to clean yourself and the tub. As you shower, imagine yourself being rebirthed into something new and positive.

Step 2: Welcome the New with Inner Wisdom Guidance

After your bath, sit in a quiet place with dim lights and a candle.  Allow Inner Wisdom to journal through you.

1. Close your eyes and breathe deeply.

2. Imagine a flame burning in the area just behind your heart.

3. As you inhale and exhale, notice that the flame expands and contracts with your

breath.

4. Set an intention to connect with the Inner Wisdom of your heart.

5. Ask your Inner Wisdom:

  1. What is meant to be created through me this year?

  2. With whom will I co-create?

  3. How can I deepen my meaningful relationships?

  4.  What habits do I need to adopt to become the highest version of myself?

  5. What else would you like for me to know?

Now....allow your inner wisdom to flow through your pen onto paper

Sister, we hope you enjoyed this ritual. Please comment below about any tweaks you made or how it made you feel! We would love to know.

Happy Solstice.
